House hunting

Well, I can't say I have done a while lot of house hunting in my time but I've done some. I never had a house feel so plastic and creep me out in the way one of the ones we saw yesterday did. Built in the early 90's and never updated. The carpet was still that horrible mottled gray, pink, blue that was so popular as a pattern back then. The brass and glass fixtures were all still there. The bathrooms were all the hard plastic fake marble. The Honey thinks I was creeped out because it felt like mom's ex's house.

The second point was important - bc someone decorated that house iwth love and money in the mid to late 1960s (this mid century modern Mad Men). There was some AMAZING pieces in there. The kitchen was a mix of both horror and fantastic -- it was the late 60s/early 70s burnt orange formica. But the ENTIRE THING. I mean....I have seen some formica in my time, but this was quite literally all the cabinets and counters and even the phone was a built in formica piece....and it was all goddamn impeccible. Like, we all stood there speechless for a few moments.
