Sometimes perceived rulebreaking means you're not aware of the rule change. However, I have no idea what you're talking about, so this is just a somewhat generic comment on rules.
You are right. Sometimes it does indicate a change in rules. However I do not take it upon myself to force others to communicate with me about their rule changes. I act on what I know. That is all anyone can functionally do. I am just not in the mood energy-wise today to poke at those buttons. Even is I were I have yet to decide that it would be a good idea.
*side note; you have managed to lump yourself into B* community in my head...

You're absolutely right, of course. Even if the rule has changed, if you're not informed, then effectively the rule is still in place. Not your responsibility to be aware of someone else's rules.

Is this a good or a bad thing? I like the B* people :)

It simply is. The Honey is lumped into B* by many people. He is not now studying, nor does he have any plans to study B*. One member of our community keeps assuming he's an Initiate. I have no idea what he has been accidentally told because of this misspeak.
We're a pretty good lot overall. I have been enjoying getting to know the East Coast folks.
Heh, yeah. I got a lot of "oh, are you Asatru" for my hammer. My answer, post-festival, is of course a little different than my during-festival answer (it all comes down to "working on it" at the moment).
Association = fact to a lot of people. Your honey = with you, therefore = B*. A = B = C, which isn't always true.
As for your "initiate" they probably either have their terminology screwed up, or they themselves think too highly of themselves ;)

Given the two people who do it most often is a 3rd degree in B*?
As for Asatru, I have never been one to assume that wearing a something that a particular group/religion/whatever has claimed as as symbol of theirs means a connection. Lots of people wear those things. If that were true then every fairy star wearing fluff bunny out there would be linked to B* in some way.
Feeling like I need to have a conversation with someone who knows Asatru. I'm not sure why but the Norse dieties seem to have an interest in me. Perhaps because of the connections of the people around me. Still, the numbers have risen significantly and that generally means something to me. Of course the people around me who look to the Norse dieties do not do so in the Asatru way. A different perspective might be nice.

Couldn't say on this one, not knowing the situation. I thought you meant that someone who wasn't an initiate was referring to themselves as one (a la, "Assistant Manager" rather than "Assistant to the Manager")

That's a fair assumption, but in my case I have to say I probably looked/talked the part. I spent a lot of time among the Asatruar at FSG, so I can understand the question, since I was wearing a hammer. So more of an association = perception. Like people don't just assume festival goer = B*, whereas someone who spend a lot of time with B* might be mistaken for one by an outsider.

Well, there happens to be a fairly good resource of Asatruar around, if you've got questions. I don't know it particularly well yet, but I could point you towards people.
Nonono, 3rd degree Initiate in B* calling my honey an initiate despite him not even being a student. Describing how people are lumped in together even by us.
Don't know all the facts, but I suspect that folks assume he's an Initiate because he kind-of acts like a grown-up AND steps in to do things when they are needed. That how many expect initiates to act.
Is one of the 3rd's my spouse? It wouldn't surprise me.
I agree. The Honey is a different person after my Neophyte as well. Makes sense that they would have to go through transformation as well if the relationship is to grow with the Neophyte growing.
However this is not what has effected this issue. The gent in question has been assuming the Honey is an Initiate since I was a Dedicant.
Hard to have the conversation of, "Do you know why your gods are drawn to me?" without a baseline knowledge of me. It is not a pressing need. They aren't calling me, just interested in me. Maybe it is an association thing.
I know they talk about me though dammit. *grumble*
Well, association could certainly be a possibility. Though, you can ask yourself why you might attract their attention instead of why there are attracted to you. Maybe it's something that you are, yourself, broadcasting that's saying something.
I don't know enough about them to know why they would be attracted to just me. I deal mostly with Greeks. I have on occasion had to have dealings with Odin because of one of his that I was dating for a while.
I learned at a ritual last year where Holda(sp?) was invited that they had been talking about me around the dinner table and at parties. Something about beads which only makes a little sense if you look at what I wear when I occasionally go to SCA events. I was not aware of any connection with the beads and ...prowess, but that was the inference.
I sang a song for Odin once as a call to him. It was for a feast. I know it drew his attention then. I have also had to stand up to him.
Profoundly guilty...
