I always did prefer the deep end
Aug. 5th, 2009 07:50 pmI had the conversation with my boss today. I told her that I had tested negative for H1N1 and had been thinking about why I had gotten severely sick twice in one month with no real explanation. I told her that I had looked at the past year and that the majority of what I've been doing has been trying to recuperate enough to go back to work. I told her that I couldn't keep doing that and stay healthy and that she deserved someone in the office that she could count on to be there when she needed them to be.
I put half days on the table and she seemed receptive, though finding someone willing to work two half days seems unlikely. I really need someplace I can work half days, no more than 3 hours hands on per day with breaks in between. I'm looking into a couple of angles that might let me have this and not be working out of my house, which is really not situated for a home business like that.
I do feel like I've jumped off the side of the pool into the deep end. I did that a long time ago and taught myself to swim. I can do this. There will be panicky moments I will be sharing along the way. FYI, you've been warned.
