A sober event does not necessarily mean a drug free event. It simply means that those things that are legal that impair judgment are not allowed. They don't have to notify people that it is a drug free event because drugs are illegal and therefore it is legally assumed that it is a drug free event simply by virtue of the fact that this is a legal event with all the proper permits filed. *headdesk* Cue Amy ticked off because of respiratory distress. You fill in the blanks.
Beginning contact stuff learned. Have a direction to go forward into.
The feel and flow of the people here is WAY different than my east coast peeps. This does not suck. It was outlined how much we did not fit in though. Vagabond hippies we are not. :D
Aerial silks kicked my ass. Dunno what I was thinking. It kept me from doing things the rest of the weekend that I wanted to do. Still... super fun!
Because of my time in color guard in high school I am better at spirals and tosses than most people who pick up staff without this training.
I discovered I need a different type of grip tape on my staves. The one I have is slippery and is part of the reason contact work has been so difficult to pick up. Contact work would also be made easier with the ends slightly more weighted. Good things to note for future reference. I don't mind the extra weight anyhow. It makes for faster spins and what not. Or should I say spirals.
Partner work is cool. It helps to do partner work with someone that has a sense of rhythm and can follow a beat while paying attention to someone else. Hopefully practice makes perfect. I do need to practice with my wicks more. They are significantly heavier than my cone poi. I can do things with my wicks I cannot easily do with my cones cause they are too light, Mexican wave for example.
I need a nap. *zonk*
