If you are sending me a note in the hopes that I will open it and want to get to know you better, perhaps something with more personality in the headline than, "Hi," is in order. Just sayin.

Likewise, if you're on an internet dating site and you like my profile, find something more witty to open with than, "Hi. I like your profile. Hope to hear from you soon!"

Because I look at those and I think, "OK, what did you like? The pictures? The books I read? My witty, devil-may-care prose? Blargle!"
