Aaah. Yep, I do that. Usually to pare down what I'm going to take, because usually things look different once they're on than they do in my head.

OK, then it gets serious. For each day/type of event, try several outfits. Look for 1 or 2 pieces that can be worn spectacularly in multiple combinations. Choose the top contenders.

It's better to wear spectacular outfits twice than to take two so-so outfits.

Take really good essential oils to distract from any slightly imperfect combinations, and play up good make-up to improve the whole thing.

Shoes are most difficult to pack for me: either they work with an outfit or they don't, and more than two pairs is bulky,

Yeah - this. Or if I have NO idea what kind of events we might find on the trip, I end up packing way too much. I prefer that to not having something I might need.

My questions: unless you try combinations OR pack everything, how can you know the outfit will be appropriately delicious? And unless you do it before each festival, how can you know it still fits who you've become lately?

I must admit that I do this with pretty much every trip I do unless it's an outfit I wear constantly. I mean, when you might already be lacking space, or far away from where the bulk of your stuff is and you find out that you brought something that is totally useless to wear because, well honestly, it sucks in some way or another.... that just, well sucks.

I also like to bring possible event clothing with me just in case I get to do something that is a little more go outy or perhaps beachy or whatever might pop up... where you are going.

::cough:: yeah. I especially try on for that last bit. Usually in as much secret as possible because I feel silly for trying on clothes I'm about to pack.
