Last Lammas I sacrificed a shock of my hair until the time when I was Initiated. To indicate this I have deliberately maintained a different color of hair for that piece ever since. Sunday I was Initiated. I decided a while ago that what I needed to do to incorporate that piece back into me was not to color that piece of my hair back to what it had been but to color the rest of my hair. It symbolizes the change in all of me. Follows are before and after pics behind the cut for friendliness of friend's pages.

Gold as per usual.

I think I look significantly more pale with this hair color. It looks great though. Very jewel tones in the sun, over a warm golden auburn color.

Two different colors mixed to get this look. The over all color is a red intensifier with a 30 lift developer. It came out a lot darker than I expected since I have been doing this for some time now with mostly strawberry blonde results. Given that I bought that tube of color enhancer probably 4 years ago now I shouldn't be surprised. The uber red on top is Blood Red by Special Effects. It looks a lot like blood that would come out of a vein vs an artery. [livejournal.com profile] thicknwild said, "This is nothing like the texture of any other Special Effects I have ever worked with. It looks like I'm dripping blood onto your hair here."

Your hair looks very cool. I like the sacrifice and the way you resolved its close.

Now I have a question completely unrelated to your hair...

How do you post pictures?

The code looks like this:

Then the question becomes, where do you upload your pics? People with paid LJ accounts can upload to LJ, but I never do because I like all my stuff in one place so I don't get confused and I already had a lot of stuff over at photobucket.com -- but I'm not necessarily recommending them as the best. Nothing wrong with them, unless you want to upload nudity, they don't like that. But there are lots of places out there that will host your pics, or you can host them on a private server. Flickr is popular for organizing photo collections.

Some photos I use (Maryland the Tiny Horse, frex) are from my LJ Scrapbook. I'm a paid member, so this is handy.

Other photos I use are linked from Google's image-hosting service, Picasa. (I have a GMail account, so this is a handy hook.) Picasa has a tool whereby you can have it automatically generate code for you to paste into a journal entry (or web site) to link back to a photo hosted there.

Flickr, a subsidiary of Yahoo, can also be used for this kind of posting.

I uploaded them to my photobucket account. Under each picture you upload it gives codes for several different things. One of them is to paste to journal with html code. Cut and paste. Et voila!

Funky!

Slightly off-topic-- I love your glasses. The frame style wouldn't work for me, but I think they look just wonderful on you!

I'm actually shopping for glasses with a similar goal, me'self! Looking at rectangle frames, maybe black or horn-rimmed. Yay!

Looks terrific on you!

I love blood red for a hair color, but I've had a bitch of a time finding it near where I live.

With as dark as you hair is do you have to bleach it first? You want me to send you some? I can generally find it here through Special Effects. Which is not a real hair color. More a hair pigment. Semi-permenant I guess.

There are other brands that do blood red but they tend to look pink on me.

My hair is not naturally dark. ;) It's actually rather medium to light (dirty blond-ish). I work at keeping it dark and some shade of red. But the blood red goes well over the dark burgundy colors.

Maybe we could talk about it over email? dragonflycai AT juno DOT com

No matter how you color your hair, you're still a hottie. :-)

We are the sum total of all our rituals, especially the ones we make for ourselves.

Amy, the hair color is great. And you look astonishingly like your mother looked in high school!

Interesting... I look at 30 the way my mom looked when she was 18. I think I'm okay with this.

In all seriousness, I have known since I was a child how much I have always looked like my mom. She's maintained a very youthful appearance through my whole life. I'm okay with looking 35 when I'm 50-ish.
