Monday in CO: the Aquaruim.
Sep. 9th, 2007 08:15 amI awoke Monday in Denver to a very dark room. They are not messing around when they put up curtains at the Embassy Suites. The Honey had left me keys so I had transportation. I already knew where to go to find my own personal brand of crack(Big Train Chai). I set off for the wilds of a suburbian mall to procure some.
The Honey thought I was daft going to a mall when I could go to a mall in MN. In fact I work at the biggest mall in the US. However I cannot see all the stores here that I found there. Its an uppity suburb mall. I'd imagine Eden Prairie is rather like it. I got my chai and wandered around peacfully just enjoying my day. There at this mall I found my perfect store. Its called Sundance. I cannot even express why this store is so perfect for me. They have colors that look good on me. 9 out of 10 items are pettable. I like the cut andthe lines. Simple and elegant, comfortable and practical, did I mention pettable? They have the perfect pair of cargo pants. *sigh* As with everything in my life. When I find exactly what it is that I'm looking for? I can't afford to supply myself with it. I have rather expensive tastes. Simple, elegant, and invariably expensive. I resolved to bring the Honey back later so I could show off my perfect store.
I left the mall after wandering for a couple of hours, headed downtown. *insert ominous music* I didn't have any trouble finding the place. It was right off the highway I was already driving on to get back from the mall. I'm not even particularly scared of getting lost. I always find myself eventually. At any rate, the Aquarium. I took pics but they haven't been developed yet. Maybe soon I can post some. Boy, was it good for my soul to sit and watch the fishies.
berkie, I got pics of sea turtles for you! They were so neat. I sat in front of the exhibit for the river otters for quite some time, just watching them play. They are amazingly rehabilitative for me. They have tigers in this aquarium... Four of them. Three brothers born as triplets and one extra. Tigers! In an aquarium! Meh, why not? Its was a water exhibit too. They had a huge pool and waterfall to play in. It was pretty evident to me that they were youngish tigers. They probably had their full growth, but they had yet to fill out to the impressive, "Oh my god that's a tiger and it could eat me," body physique. They may not since they live in captivity. I stayed in the aquarium for probably 4 hours.
I had noticed a humongous REI while I was driving on the way in to the aquarium. I was going to find it by god. What I ended up finding first wasa lovely park to sit and read by. Which I did. I also found a wine store, which I am going to when I see them so I can learn more. I talked with the manager there for a while. That was fun. I love learning things from other people in the industry I'm working in. Once I was done there I did find the REI, without getting lost mind you. It had to be the biggest REI I have ever seen. OMG. Tried on a pair of Chacos. Interesting. Need to try some different styles to see if they all fit in that odd way. not sure I could wear them if that is true. I like how they held my foot. The footbed just didn't set right though, like the back half was crooked. Maybe my feet are, who knows. That would follow nicely. My feet being high maintenance like the rest of me. *chuckle*
After this whole day I went back to home away from home. Sat and read a bit more. The Honey got back a while later and we went down to happy hour at the bar. I am unimpressed with happy hour overall. The salsa is amazing though. After asking the wrong person where to go we went and had a mediocre sushi dinner. I say mediocre because I like sushi. It didn't make me ill but I really don't want to pay for sushi unless it is going to be good. I cannot say it was bad, the service was decent, the food edible, but I would not go back. maybe I'm picky.
Before dinner I did end up dragging the Honey over the Sundance to show off my perfect store. He agreed that it looked like it was designed for me. Link for my reference http://www.sundancecatalog.com/sdx/H23186.jsp
