Dec 9th, 2009 (I think)

the next several posts are from what I wrote in my paper journal because I didn't have a net connection and a computer wandering around Paris.
Sitting at the top of Sacre Couer(Sacred Heart). The view up here is amazing. Kinda wishing I had come yesterday morn when the sky was clear and sunny. Foggy mist clings to the city now. May try to bring the Honey back. I think he'd like it here.
Missing my internet connection. Wish I could type all this into LJ. Hell, I don't even have a proper pen. This one is tiny and goes with my tiny notebook. Obviously it works. I keep wanting to share things I have noticed. Like, "Oh god. Here I am in the cold damp wind. It would be perfect if I had a floppy kind of hat that I could pull down over my ears when it was cold that pull up and back when I didn't need it as much. Something like a...beret...*headdesk* Well, I suppose it makes sense now." Tall boots too. I realize that they probably didn't invent them here but its wet and mucky, kinda sloppy in places. Tall boots make sure you and your pants stay dry and are easier to clean up. Who knew this fashion stuff had a purpose?!
We went to the Louvre on the first Sunday of the month. Their one free day. OMG it was packed. There was a line a half a mile long. It would in and around the courtyards and bldgs of the Louvre. I wandered a bit while M was nice enough to stand in line. The only way I could easily find him was a lady about three people in front of us with a bright fuschia umbrella. So when I went to pick up an umbrella for us I avoided the black ones. Everyone will see me with this thing. It is a beautiful saffron color with a bright blue binding around the edge. Mary, you will love it.
I haven't been taking as many pictures here. I think that is because I am still trying to figure out the heart of the city. Its been dark, cloudy, and rainy most of the time since we arrived and that makes it harder to get a decent exposure w/o a tripod. I guess I need a bidirectional swivel mount for Grover. And a remote trigger while I'm at it. We'll see what comes of the pics I have taken so far. I know I got some I can give to Sissy.
Tennis shoes since Sat... I'm surviving. Blisters healing nicely. I'm off to explore Montmarte. Its a lovely little neighborhood and the area I was looking for I think.
