Just because someone is willing to break their own rules does not mean that the rules have changed. Stop thinking too much and get on with your day.

*Insert long string of obscenities here* this msg brought to you by your local friendly poison control center.

Maybe irritability is just internal to me... Off to find a Dr. now.

we have not so happily settled on urgent care as opposed to the ER. Feeling a bit like I ought to find someone who can go with me due to the overwhelming urge to go to sleep.

The intelligent practical portion of my brain knows that going to sleep while under respiratory distress is a *bad* idea.
-------
More present than mine brain suggested that it may be more important to go in and be seen than avoid the ER since the Urgent Care I know about doesn't open until 6. Researching to find out if there are other urgent care places. If not, I'll go to the ER.

I am not dead. Good thing too.

So I came into contact with a very strong opioid. Having found out in the hospital for my jaw surgery that they do not really agree with me, this reaction does not surprise me. [livejournal.com profile] dawningday convinced my better sense, which had momentarily left, that I ought to call the nurse line. I called the nurse line and once I described what was going on she was very helpful, probably the most of the rest of this account. She said that since the Sx were not getting worse I was probably fine but that I should call poison control to find out what the half life on the stuff was. That way I'd know how long to keep watch on my Sx on the off chance that something changed.

Poison control was remarkably unhelpful. I actually had to tell the woman on the other end of the line, "Stop, just stop and actually listen to what is going on." I guess she assumed that I was having hysterics because I had touched someone's patch. Completely overrode me the first time I tried to tell her that I actually had symptomology to talk about. She did not like being told to stop. I was abruptly told to call my Dr's office.

I called my Dr's office and left a msg for a nurse. Nurse called me back to find out what was going on. Nurse said she'd talk to Dr and call me back again. Dr talked to nurse I presume, then nurse did eventually call me back, this is about 5pm now. You're probably ok but we're worried about your blood pressure being too low if you have these Sx. Go to urgent care or ER to get yourself checked out.

Realizing at this point that I needed a chaperon(see previous post about wanting a nap and that being a generally bad idea) I called [livejournal.com profile] roy_batty to see if anyone from his house could drive me to the urgent care. He nicely volunteered. Drive all the way down to 98th and Lyndale cause the closer ones aren't open until 6pm. They wouldn't even check me in. Totally hands off. "We don't have the capabilities to assess this. You really need to go to the ER." ...*headdesk*

[livejournal.com profile] roy_batty brought up that the Sx I had been having up to that point are listed as normal on the web info I had found. Not indicative of allergic reaction. So long as I kept breathing I could wait out the reaction and be just fine. Offered his house as a place to now wait alone in case problems did come up, that way there would be "adult supervision" for the loopy chick. MKI reminded him in a phone call that SPA, their oldest has strep, perhaps not the best place to bring a loopy chick. Call to [livejournal.com profile] gwisteria FTW! I got to sit down for a bit. Then wonders to behold! [livejournal.com profile] evalizabeth and family walked in. We went to have sushi for dinner. The Honey showed up from the airport.

And my verbal filters turned off. I stopped being sleepy and feeling like someone was sitting on my chest. About that time I got rather silly and prone to saying unfortunate things. Lucky for me everyone around me loved me and it was alright. And Miss K is so huge! And fun to have conversations with. Though admittedly she had been up for almost 24 hrs so it was not the most focused of conversations. Once again the lucky me part comes in because I wasn't really capable of focused conversation anyhow.
