Quinn is his name. He is out from under the oxygen tent but is still very labored in breathing, not allowed to eat yet. She will be allowed to stay in the hospital with him until Tuesday but is feeling the lack of support for her boys at home who are just as scared as she is with out the benefit of 20 more years of dealing. They are also very empathic children and do not deal with death well yet. Doubly difficult, sick child inthe hospital, two worried children at home needing reassurance. I hope I can help with the second while still supporting her.

Circle last night was very helpful. Hecate says that a decision has not yet been made where he is concerned but that I need to be ready to accept whatever outcome and support the family if he does pass beyond. Thus anyone wanting to send energy to this situation rather than sending it to healing him needs to send it and allow the situation to take whatever form is best. It may be that he needs to move beyond and has accomplished what he needs to here. Sending energy to in essence keep him here when that is not what needs to happen will not help. Not that anyone reading this would not know that but it had to be said in any case.

From a purely practical and medical standpoint, just because he's not being fed food yet doesn't mean the worst. They're correct in making the choice to let him get nutrition through his veins because it allows his body to put energy where it needs to be - in healing him and helping make all systems work. It's a very scary situation to have a sick baby, but I've seen babies born MUCH MUCH earlier than Quinn and who needed many months of intervention and they managed to get through it and go home eventually, so please don't think that he's a lost cause. In general, the bigger the baby at birth, the better their chances for survival. Being only 2 weeks premature stacks the deck in his favor. Breathing trouble is especially scary, but it's a very good sign that he's out of the oxygen tent already. His O2 levels must have stabilized enough to take him out of it, which means his body is already trying to right itself. Newborns are in a period of flux anyway, and all go through an initial period of stabilization as they transition to life outside the womb; he's just got more adjusting than usual to do. I will send some Reiki to him; hope it helps. Whether he stays or goes, the energy will assist either way. Hope the kids and mom get through this stressful time with minimal trauma, and I hope you do too. All the best to everyone concerned.
