krkhst for picking up the slack down the street. I would not have felt good about leaving G in a lurch.
Updates: GGMom is doing much better. Once her blood sugar began responding to treatment all the other problems began abating. Turns out the kidney infection and the UTI were caused by the abnormally high levels of sugar in her urine. The lack of balance caused by extreme weakness. Go figure, when there is too much sugar to process the body quits trying and effectively starves itself. Still don't know what caused the eye problem, doc says it has to have had an event that caused it. The eye itself will probably be able to be saved if she gets the next surgery done in the next couple of days. Vision will never return to normal however. its not completely gone tho. The old bat got up and walked herself down the hall twice yesterday, once with the help of the PT and once on her own with a walker. That means she should be able to get along just fine in an assisted living factility and won't need a nursing home. Given her independent spirit, I think that is better for her. She's actually looking forward to going. She calls them Old Folk's Homes and she wants to get herself into one cause, "I'm old, and there's old people there. We should get along." Ah logic. They'll moderate her diet and make sure she gets her shots on time so this kid of thing doesn't happen again. No, there'll be other things that jump up and bite in the ass.
Found out yesterday that I am named secondary on her power of attny. Wow, that's good to know. "Oh btw, if I'm ever not around they're gonna be calling you." This from my mom. Spent the last two days starting the process of going thru her apt and cleaning things out. Can't believe the things she was using as food. The only things I found were starch. Cleaned out the cabinets and the fridge. Packed up some stuff that I waned to bring home with me. Some books that are older than she is!!! Woohoo! And a bunch of glass jars and things for herbs and other cool stuff. I'm hoping that I can convince ARach that she really doens't want the china that is in the china cabinet she wants to much. I'll just take it off her hands cause its soooo not her. It is however me. The pattern is called something like rose shell. I mean how perfect can it get! There's also a punch bowl and some serving platters I'd like to have, well since I have this nice house and all and I'd like to use them rather than put them in storage. Rerealizing how much I looked like my mom as a kid! Looking thru a lot of old photo albums (sneezing a lot in the process) and found all kinds of shots of my mom. She was always more proper than I ever was. I guess haveing a southern aristocrat for a mother will do that to you. My niece looks just like me, thus carying on the tradition of our genes winning out over other's. HAHA! Genetic Superiority!!! *insert maniacal laughter here* Oh my that was my outside voice.
I got a nap yesterday. 4 hours of a tempurpedic and I feel better than I have in a long time. Don't know how long that benefit will last but it truly hit home to me how much I need a new bed to return to my formerly glorious self. I will refrain from saying that I will get lots of sleep this weekend to recuperate because last time I did that it got screwed with and well, I know myself and family gatherings, I don't sleep much. Here's looking forward to not sleeping much in good company! Welcome to MN all you beautiful people! Not that I'm there but I will be soon! The plans it to leave around 3 tomorrow. Menaing it'll probably be closer to five. My job it to pack the car while my love is at work. I shall dispach it with haste.
