Dan finds me in a café on Ile de la Cité. Driven from my room by the smell of smoke, I went down into the city to find a decently priced breakfast(less than 25 euros please) and a change of mental perspective. I found the place we stopped for coffee Saturday before heading to Notre Dame. Great hot chocolate or chocolate chaud(pronounced shocolai show, or shoe depending on who you talk to)
Meals are so slow here. Multiple courses are expected but the portion size is usually reasonable enough to accommodate that. At home I feel terrible if I sit at a table too long. here that is simply not an issue. Think nothing of sitting for several hours over a slow meal and finish with a cup of coffee and a good book. I suppose that makes up for the pace they live the rest of their lives at.
I think I will explore Ile de la Cité and Ile de St.Louis today. Add in the Left Bank and Latin Quarter and I might just find the Shakespeare & CO bookstore. :D
