the funk [bitchy post]
this December has been the suck. It has been gray and wet and chilly instead of bright and snowy and cold. Its making everyone's body hurt and the transitions between cold and not cold are darn near intolerable for people with fibro.
I discovered that shopping online prevents me from feeling the holidays. I really dislike it. Shopping for people is one of the times that I get to really think about people and appreciate their presence in my life. This can be problematic when I have to sit with and think of gifts for people I don't particularly know or like or who are in terrible situations in their own lives right now. Still it makes the holidays feel like holidays for me and I have pretty much missed out on that this year.
Our upcoming trip to KC is looking more and more like I will need a vacation from it. The Honey has been asked to assist in mediation of an attempt by his brother and his brother's soon to be ex-wife so they don't have to continue paying lawyers and court fees as they continue to fight. The Honey has suggested some very reasonable ground rules and sadly I do not have faith that my soon to be ex-sister-in-law will be reasonable about anything. It is good that I will not be there. Still, that will either be Friday or Monday, no clue where but likely in Springfield. We wanted to spend that time with the kids. Looks a bit like I might be babysitting instead. At least I will get time with the kids. So we have driving 450 miles on Thursday, 200 miles on Friday, 240 miles on Saturday, 185 miles on Sunday, Monday is in the unknown category since we don't know when the mediation will be but at least 110 miles, and then Tuesday we drive home the 450 miles again. Mind you all of this is destination driving and does not include things like running to the grocery store or going shopping. Sadly, other than the trips to Springfield this is a completely normal trip to KC for us. And people wonder why I feel like people should damn well get together in one place if they wanna see me. I really don't have it in me to drive to everyone's houses cause they can't be bothered or whatever. I did mention this would be a bitchy post.
In the spirit of moving on from the bitching, I will make a to do list. Today I need to:
get my oil changed
go tanning
go by the post office and mail an envelope and a box
go to Ikea and look for a rug
go print pictures for holiday cards
work on holiday cards
cut the Younger's hair
have a martini
work on holiday cards some more
eat, I need to make sure to eat somewhere in there
