(no subject)

I have yet to meet the day that could not be made better by cold pizza, pigtails, and makeup. Not every hard day needs all three. Sometimes you just have to pull out the big guns.

OMG. Yes!

(subbing 80's music for the cold pizza, and putting hair in pigtails RIGHT NOW)

Yay for 80's music!

Cold pizza is awesome. People who don't eat it confuse and frighten me. "B... but it's pizza! And the cheese is all congealed!"

Sort of like how mac & cheese is always better the second day.

Ooo, can't get behind the last unqualified. It really depends on the mac and cheese if I will eat it not absolutely fresh.

Yay for nice round lovely big guns! Wait...maybe we aren't talking about the same thing....

Or maybe we are...

[livejournal.com profile] jr0124 scarred me for life when he said what he wanted to do to Britney Spears when he saw her (back in 2000, this was) in a video in pigtails.
He referred to them as "handlebars".

[identity profile] hypatia42.livejournal.com 2008-06-27 01:19 am (UTC)(link)
Hmm, this would have been the "catholic school girl" video? Lots of males in this country have the same desires.

They can function as such but that has a tendency to hurt my neck.

[identity profile] siriciryon.livejournal.com 2008-06-27 01:29 am (UTC)(link)
I have no idea. I've never seen any Britney video footage.

See, this is my problem! If I want someone to do that to me and enjoy it, I need to know that I'm not making them miserable, or making them feel like they're just being dutiful or whatever, and that pretty much means I need to let them drive. Playing with hair is one thing, but dictating depth or timing through one's grip is another.

Yes, I've seen teh pr0n, but, well, "gack" is an unsexy noise coming from my partner, and it's unsexy onscreen.

All of which, at the time and since, bundles together into "Oh, yuck." on the visualization of pigtail-handlebars.
...
and yet, I also think they're adorable. *sigh*

Part of the hurting my neck problem is that my hair is not functionally long enough to do that when compared to the length of my torso.

Trusting your partner to let you know what their limit is is not letting them drive btw.

On 1) Hmm. Kay.

On 2) This is true and I will think upon it within that particular context, as I'm sure that in some aspects I treat them as identical and in others I'm sure I don't.

I prefer hot pizza to cold, but I prefer pizza to most any food. Except maybe ice cream and chocolate.
(See? Girly.)

I'm not so sure that this isn't a trait of being American as opposed to girl. Most of the guys I know would put themselves in the same category of likes. Liking chocolate and ice cream does not make one girly. Even liking really good quality chocolate and ice cream does not make one girly. Just discerning.

I am not the best person to have this conversation with I think. I don't define girly the way most people do. I do feel strongly about my definition though.

I do prefer hot pizza to cold in general.

I'm pretty sure the girly part is in the craving. And it's girly to be any level of gourmand - caring what you're eating is not manly in the US, from what I can gather.

It's fun having this conversation with you, because you don't automatically agree, which makes me think about it.

[identity profile] hypatia42.livejournal.com 2008-06-27 03:07 pm (UTC)(link)
If all you want is for someone to agree with you then I can do that. I generally need to know ahead of time though.

I think the sticking point in conversation here is your definitions. Can you communicate what your definitions of girly and manly are? Is there a reason that it isn't womanly and manly? or girly and ... boyish? The words you are using don't seem to match up in equality.

[identity profile] siriciryon.livejournal.com 2008-06-27 03:16 pm (UTC)(link)
I much prefer people saying the honest thing than playing yes-man. I tend to develop conversational relationships with people who have interestingly contrasted viewpoints and opinions.

A predilection for silk would be womanly.
Wanting pink everything would be girly.
Ignoring everything to go play video games would be boyish.
Building a deck from scratch without help would be manly.

Why am I using girly vs. manly? Because that's the phrasing I usually hear. No, it's not based in equality, but the system in whose overbearing presence I'm operating isn't really comfortable with the idea of equality and would like to make it go away into some easily categorized hierarchy.
